Tooth Sealants
Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to protect them from tooth decay.
Despite the heavy pressures you exert on teeth during chewing each day, dental sealants may remain effective for five years or longer, although sealants do wear naturally and may become damaged over time.
Pits & Fissures
The grooves of molars on the chewing surface are called pits and fissures. These help you chew, but they can also trap food. Cavity prevention in this area can include a sealant to prevent degradation of the molars.
Remember to Brush & Floss
The best treatment is preventative treatment so remember to brish and floss. However when things happen, we can (in some cases) use sealants.
